With news headlines often revealing the latest big lottery jackpot winner, and articles describing how the lucky individual or couple plan to use it to change their lives, it can make others dream about what it would be like if they ever got the chance to spend that kind of money themselves.

Participation in a lottery is now an activity which takes place in many countries and the people who buy lottery tickets get that special buzz of being in with a chance of winning the big prize. Geographical boundaries are not an excuse why you cannot choose to participate in a particular lottery. Draws take place all over the globe and these days you can enter the competition online.

In the United States, for example, you have a wide range of lotteries to take part in. These include the local state lotteries such as the California Lottery, the NJ Lottery and the Florida Lotto. As well as these lotteries you then have the nationwide Mega Millions and Powerball.

When considering the lottery participation rules of each country, including any age restrictions in place, being physically present in that part of the world where the draw is made is not usually a legal requirement.

There has never been a better opportunity to join in with lotteries taking place globally, as you can now feel the excitement yourself and cross your fingers to see if your numbers are the ones drawn.

Lottery results are widely published nowadays so you won’t have to wait long to find out if you have won or not. Numbers can be selected on the lottery website and this can either be in the form of a lucky dip selection, where they are selected at random, or if you have particular numbers in mind then enter these into the draw and dream about winning the game’s life-changing jackpot.

Check to see if you have that lucky golden ticket and find the latest lottery results by visiting the www.alottery.com web site.

Are there any drinks machines at Vicarage Road? I’ll be honest. I’ve never found one.

This may well be because I’ve never been to Vicarage Road, but that might not be the only reason. Until it’s proven otherwise, I will assume that it’s also because there aren’t any.

Now I’ve got a lot of regard for Elton John – Sacrifice was banging, as was Healing Hands – but despite this, I hold him personally responsible.

If something is wrong somewhere, do you try and deduce who is actually at fault, or do you blame the most famous person who is tangentially related to the institution in question. As the most famous person to come to mind when I think about Watford Football Club, I blame John.

You heard me, John. Where are the drinks machines? Where are they, eh? What are you going to do about it?

Look at you, sat there with your odd hair, chumming up with Graham Taylor, lounging about like you own the place. How about doing something of merit for once? How about doing something for the fans? How about installing a series of hot drinks machines from which the fans can acquire delicious hot beverages?

Of course, if the drinks machines are there, I retract the above.

The fees flying around the transfer window today have been crazy. Chelsea are reportedly signing Liverpool’s star striker Fernando Torres for more than £50 million. Liverpool have bid £35 million for Newcastle star striker Andy Carroll and the striker is keen on a move to Anfield. Clubs can raise the price of player during the last day of the transfer window at any point as they have control and power. Would Torres really be worth £50 million if Chelsea were trying to sign him in the summer? Would Andy Carroll really be worth £35 million in the summer and would more clubs be bidding for him?

Obafemi Martins has signed for Birmingham on loan until the end of the season from Rubin Kazan. The former Newcastle Striker has passed a medical at St Andrews and could be in contention for their next premier league game. Martins proved himself in the premier league playing for the Newcastle but became less favoured at Newcastle and moved to Wolfsburg as few years back. This could be a chance for him to finish some unfinished business and prove he still has what it takes to perform in the premier league.

Paul Konchesky has signed for Nottingham Forrest on from Liverpool until the end of the season. Konchesky signed for Liverpool from Fulham in the summer of 2010 following Roy Hodgson’s appointment as Liverpool manager. However the move for both player and manager has proven to be disastrous with Roy Hodgson being sacked in January 2011 and now Konchesky being loaned out to the championship club. Liverpool are keen to improve their squad and are close to signing Suarez from Ajax but they are facing the prospect of losing star striker Fernando Torres to Chelsea.

Newcastle have rejected a bid of £35 Million for Andy Carroll. Earlier in the day Liverpool offered £30 million which was rejected and then offered £35 million which they thought had been accepted. This crazy bidding for Carroll has all stemmed from Fernando Torres almost certain move to Chelsea following his transfer request towards the end of last week. Torres is expected to sign for Chelsea for around £50 million and Liverpool are desperate to sign a striker before the transfer window closes to replace him. Carroll seems to be their preferred choice and they may decide to raise the bid.

There have been many big names transferred in the January window in the last few years such as Dimitar Berbatov, Robbie keen and many, many many, more. There has been talk of Fernando Torres joining Chelsea from Liverpool, and Andy Carroll joining Liverpool from Newcastle. It is crazy how these deals always seem to be last minute and how clubs can increase the price of players more so at this time of year.

If only your team hadn’t conceded those two early goals!

But anyway in this hi-tech, multimedia age, is it not time the establishment looked at options to help the poor man in the middle?

Time and time we hear and see proof of mistakes by the man in the middle and the masses seeing technology replay in a second the evidence to dam the poor man, can’t we give them help?

Today we sit yet again turning another corner and the false dawn appears and we all get very excited!

After so many corners what can you glean from this, yes back at the start and a mountain to climb. But this time we seem to have management that understand sport and the talk is of a slow growth back to the pinnacle of our sport.

All us fans want is to hold our heads high and say “you never walk alone!” with pride and respect from everybody else.

With Manchester United’s dismal defensive displays this season they are desperate to get Rio Ferdinand back playing week in week out. Although they haven’t lost yet this season they have managed to ship eleven goals in just eight games.
So far the defender has started just two of United’s games this season against Scunthorpe United, in the Carling Cup, and Rangers in the Champions League. He was supposed to start both against Liverpool and Bolton but he was withdrawn due to fears of each game being too physical and therefore risking further injury.
Sir Alex Ferguson has now taken a further precaution with Rio during the teams flight to Spain on Tuesday. During the flight Rio stood up for virtually the whole time and when he did sit down he had the assistance of a booster seat.
Apparently the booster seat travels with him all the time whilst it was considered standing up during the flight would put less pressure on his back.
As bizarre as it sounds it must have worked because United beat Valencia 1-0 to claim their first Champions League victory this term. The result also puts them top of Group C.
